FISHING

Yes, fishing!

It's the biggest reason people come to River Haven Resort.

So, what kind of fish can you expect to catch? Pickerel (or walleye), big northern pike and muskies. Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, perch and other pan fish.

The fishing is very good throughout the season. The best time for trophy fishing in our area of Georgian Bay is the spring and fall because this is the most productive time of the year for Walleye and Pike. July and August are excellent times for families because the children may use our beach, playground and recreation center for amusement.  The re stocking program in Britt and Byng Inlet as well as the trend to conserve fish stocks by catch and release methods has really made a difference in the quality of our fishing.

BOATS & MOTORS

Our resorts boats are 16 foot Lund boats with 20h.p. Yamaha motors, swivelseats.  Bass boats (10 1/2 feet) with 8h.p. motors with live wells in them.  Fish finders are available to rent as well.  All our boats are equipped with life jackets, flashlights and whistles for your safety.

Please consult the rate page for prices or contact us for a individual plan to suit your particular needs and budget.  Allow at least ten days for return mail or if you try to contact us by phone, please let it ring at least 3 times, if not leave a message.  With our out of doors life style it takes us a minute or two to get to the phone.

We hope that you will join us for a memorable vacation of excellent fishing and spectacular scenery among some of Georgian Bay's 30,000 islands.  We are only 3 hours north of Toronto and just 1/4 mile off Highway 69, so there are no problems reaching our resort from anywhere in Ontario.

There are hundreds of islands with wind blown trees and many bays, coves and channels to fish as well as the island to picnic on or explore.  Our waters are clear and filled with plenty of structure as well it's safe enough to drink if there are any questions that you might have about your fishing trip, please call or write us.  We are here to cater to the enjoyment and entertainment of fisherman and vacationers to make your stay with us a experience to remember.

FISHING SEASON OPEN FROM MAY 1st

• Walleye: May 1st to Dec 31- limit 2 in one day and limit of 4 ,0 between16.1 to 22inches and one greater than 22 inches, pike same limits only one greater than 34 inches in length
• Smallmouth Bass: June 28th to Nov 30- limit 3 in one day
• Largemouth Bass: June 28th to Nov 30- limit 3 in one day
• Muskellunge: June 21st - to Dec 15th position limit - 1a day - size 54 in
• Splake: Jan. 1st to Sept. 30th - limit 3 in one day
• Salmon: open all year - limit 5 in one day
• Pan Fish: No Closed Season - no limit
• Lake Trout Jan 01 to Sept. 30 ,3 in one day
• We are located in Division 16 Central Ontario and these limits are sport fishing , Conservation limits are different Thank You

Winter Ice Fishing

• Walleye, Pike Jan 01 to Mar 01 , Limits same as above
• Huts and cottages available
